10 reasons to go to Sweden!

Why go to Sweden? We posed the question to lovers of Sweden on Facebook - here's the summary

1. The love of nature
The nature and respect for nature are essential to the Swedes. Just see the landscape to understand: hundreds of thousands of lakes, forests and fields to the horizon, the mountains and wild spread of Swedish Lapland (which is also the natural space moose ) ..

2. Sweet life
Relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, casual and welcoming people. In addition, you'll have no trouble communicating - almost all Swedes speak English (and some even French)!

3. Stockholm and its archipelago
The capital of Sweden is a delightful mix between nature and design, trendiness and relaxation. At thirty minute boat ride from the town center is the Stockholm Archipelago, an island world of 24,000 islands to be discovered (why not kayak or sailboat?)

4. The traditions
Although very contemporary, the Swedes love their traditions! For a change of scenery, we recommend the following festivals: the Midsommar (late June), the feast of crayfish (August), Saint Lucia (December 13), Christmas (December 24). Special mention for the feast of the Midsommar in the Dalarna region (Dalarna).

5. The kitchen and "fika"
Swedish meatballs are already known. But did you know that seafood from the Swedish west coast are considered among the best in the world (you must try the smoked shrimp Smögen!)? As for fika, it is a good Swedish custom: a coffee break with a baking whose kanelbullar (cinnamon buns) and the princess cake (cake with cream and almond paste) are a must.

6. Gothenburg and villages of west coast fishermen
The second city of Sweden is known for its atmosphere and friendly people, superb restaurants of fish and shellfish - and the coast and its archipelago. Local transportation will take you down to the islands!

7. thrillers and Swedish literature
Stockholm in Millennium trilogy, Fjällbacka in the novels of Camilla Läckberg, Ystad of Inspector Wallander - Swedish crime fiction authors have made known Swedish cities around the world! All these places actually exist and many are open to visitors.

8. The Swedish company
The Swedish model meets market economy and a cohesive society, which is reflected in particular parental leave (up to 480 days of which is reserved for the father), free education and student loans at favorable rates . The Swedish model is built on consensus with the social partners, so that strikes are very rare ..

9. History and Heritage
Sweden has 14 sites on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Since the agrarian landscapes of southern Öland in Laponia National Park, passing by rock inscriptions (bronze age) to Tanum, you décrouvrirez wealth of history and Swedish heritage. Among the museums, do not miss the unmissable Vasa Museum in Stockholm.

10. The Northern Light

Due to its location in the far north of Europe, Sweden is spoiled by natural phenomena. In summer, you can watch the midnight sun in the north, while winter is the season for auroras. Without going to extremes, a simple sunset or sunrise in the Stockholm archipelago (summer between 23h and 1am) is worth a trip all by itself ...
